A World Within Reach
Cuba 2023. A world within reach brings the perspective of a society capable of showing us a better way to live and coexist. Despite all material limitations and the serious consequences that this entails, we meet a society that has found what is most human about us: our sense of community.
This is a tribute to Cuba and the Cuban people.
Cabrera: A Life at the Sea
Catalunya, Spain 2022/2023. This is the portrait of the life around a fishing boat, Cabrera.
Cabrera is a seine boat, for sardine and the like, who go out every night at the coast of Cataluña, Spain, fishing at dawn, to bring in the morning the fish that thousands of people consume every day. It is a boat like any other and that is why it is so important, because it faithfully represents and reproduces the life of this working class, the fishermen.
Dégagé: Ballet Nacional de Cuba
Barcelona, Spain 2019. Dégagé, from French, means “disengage”. It is a typical ballet movement that is taught from the first classes of the discipline. In dégagé the dancer's feet moves away from the support leg, her center of balance. This project translates through photographs the development behind the performances of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba while they were away from home, outside their center.
Small Memories
Brazil X/2021.This is a tribute to all the grandparents out there who made the double effort to be parents again to their grandchild. To my grandmother, that passed away last year and took half of me with her, to my grandfather, and to many others out there that I’m sure many can relate with this simple images of a routine with grandparents.
Serra Azul
Brazil 2020. Serra Azul is a series that takes place on a cattle breeding farm in southeastern Brazil, near a town called Monteiro Lobato. The farm is dedicated to creating, maintaining and reproducing cows for meat production and acts locally. Contrary to what is usually associated with this activity, there is no disastrous and abusive environment.
Développé
Catalunya, Spain 2016/2023. Ballet is a performative art. In the show, the artist on stage lends his person to the work, turning himself into art, which only exists as long as the artist allows and reproduces it. But, until it is consummated in performance, ballet carries within itself an extensive and constant work of personal and collective effort. A human job.
